Ernesto Rodríguez Crespo, PhD student at DEGIN (Doctoral Program in Economics and Management of Innovation), has defended his doctoral dissertation. It has been supervised by prof. Margarita Billón (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid).
The dissertation is entitled “ICTs effects on trade using a gravity model approach” and studies the impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on trade. It assumes a consistent framework with the economic context, which is explained by the following facts: i) we find that changes in ICT diffusion happen over time, where the implementation of panel data methodologies is required and ii) we find important differences in the growth rates of ICT by countries, types of ICT and regions.
