Research Team

The research team in Economics and Management of Innovation (UAM-InEGi) is coordinated by Paloma Sánchez Muñoz and Juan Carlos Salazar-Elena. The team is currently composed by eleven researchers affiliated to the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, in the Departments of Economic Structure and Development Economics; Economic Analysis: Quantitative Economics and Economic Analysis: Economic Theory and Economic History.

In addition to that, the team is composed by external researchers from national and international institutions, as well as doctoral students of the PhD in Economics and Management of Innovation.

Full Professor (Emeritus) of Applied Economics at the Department of Economic Structure and Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). Director of the Chair. PhD in Economics from UAM. She has also been visiting professor at the universities of La Plata in Argentina and Connecticut and Berkeley in the United States. She is fellow of the Eisenhower Foundation. President of the Committee of Scientific and Technological Policy in the OECD between 1991 and 1993.

Assistant Professor at the Department of Economic Analysis Faculty of Economics and Business Studies at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). PhD in Economics from UAM. His fields of interest are: Spatial Economics, Regional Economics, Growth, Innovation, International Economics, and Efficiency and Productivity analysis.

Assistant Professor at the Department of Economic Structure and Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). PhD in Economics and Management of Innovation from UAM. Her fields of interest are: University Entrepreneurship in Deep-tech, Creation of Impact and Leadership Communities.

Associate Professor of Applied Economics at the Department of Economic Structure and Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). PhD in Economics from UAM. Her research is mainly focused on the relationships between innovation and digitalization, determining factors and impacts of ICT usage, digital skills and digital divide.

Associate Professor at the Department of Economic Analysis: Economic Theory and Economic History, Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). PhD in Economics from the UAM. Her main research activity has been focused on the substantiation of explanations of economic change, the emergence of novelty and innovation processes.

Assistant Professor in the Department of Economic Analysis: Quantitative Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). PhD in Economics. Mixed profile Engineering/Economics. His research lines are focused on the study of emerging properties through the application of computational simulation ABM (Agent-Based Modelling) to socio-economic systems with non-linear dynamics.

Associate Professor of economics in the Department of Economic Structure and Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). PhD in Economics and Management of Innovation from UAM and master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Cornell University. Advisor at the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities of the Government of Spain. Member of the Board of Directors of CDTI, Spain’s innovation agency. Academic coordinator of the PhD Program in Economics and Management of Innovation at UAM.

Assistant Professor at the Department of Economic Structure and Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). Ph.D in Economics from UAM. Her current research interest focuses on Economic Growth, Development, Technology Innovation and Sustainability. Deputy Director of the Chair.

Associate Professor at the Department of Economic Structure and Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). PhD in Economics from UAM. Her research activity is focused on the economics of innovation and, more specifically, on regional innovation systems. She is currently the Deputy Director of the Chair and the Coordinator of the master´s degree in Economics and Management of Innovation.

Assistant Professor at the Department of Economic Structure and Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). PhD in Economics and Management of Innovation from UAM. Advanced Studies Program in International Economic Policy Research at the Kiel Institute (Germany). His lines of research treat about the effect of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) on trade.

Associate Professor at the Department of Economic Structure and Development Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). PhD in Economics at UAM. He is also Deputy Director of the Chair, Academic Coordinator of the master´s degree in Economics and Management of Innovation at UAM and Secretary of the European Inter-university Association on Society, Science, and Technology (ESST).

Full Professor in the Department of Economic Analysis: Quantitative Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business Studies, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). PhD in Mathematics from Complutense University of Madrid. His research lines are related to the mathematical economics, dynamic models and non-linear dynamics. In addition to that, he is the current Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Economics and Management of Innovation at UAM.

Associate Professor of Management Control Systems at the Faculty of Economics and Business from University of Chile. He works on the design and implementation of information systems to support the business management. He holds a PhD in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). He is currently Visiting Professor at San José State University (SJSU), Department of Accounting and Finance, Lucas College, CA, USA.

Full Professor of Economics specialising in innovation and sustainability  at the University of Lund, Sweden. PhD in Economics at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) / Universidad de Sao Paulo (Brazil). Her research interests are focused on the combination between innovation studies, development studies and sustainability.

Senior Lecturer at Department of Applied Information Technology, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. His research focuses on the existing complexities behind the free software, the open codes, the crowdsourcing and the software development proceses. He holds a PhD in Information Systems from The London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE) and a master´s degree in Computer Science from University College of London (UCL).

UAM-Accenture Visiting Fellow 2019. Full Professor of Innovation Studies at CIRCLE (Center for Innovation, Research and Competence in the Learning Economy), at the University of Lund (Sweden). Member of the Swedish National Innovation Council, chaired by the Prime Minister.

His research interests are focused on innovation policy and governance of innovation systems. Top among his contributions has been his role as one of the scholars who gave birth and substance to the concept of national innovation systems –together with Christopher Freeman, Richard Nelson and Bengt-Åke Lundvall.

Managing Director of Insight Foresight Institute (IFI) and Adjunct Professor of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). He is experienced in foresight, strategy and innovation [MSc (econ.), Dr.Sci (tech.)]. Könnölä is a board member of Sustainability College Bruges, FOM Asesoramiento Tecnológico and GES Alliance. He is also a nominated member of ‘los 100 de Cotec’, a group of experts for Cotec Foundation for Innovation, and an advisor in the Policy Support Facility for the European Commission.

Full Professor in the Department of Financial Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business in the Basque Country University. PhD in Economics and Business from the Basque Country University (UPV/EHU). His research activity is focused on the field of Business Economics, Management Training, Innovation and Strategic Human Resources, as well as Qualitative Forecasting Techniques.

Associate Professor and Researcher in the Economics Department at Deusto University, Donostia-San Sebastián. PhD in Engineering and Innovation Projects from the Politechnic University of Valencia. His main research and teaching interests are focused on science, technology and innovation policies, the management of innovation and the use of indicators to inform public policies in relation to innovation.
