Last April 25th, 2014, the X Breakfast with the Innovation took place with the presentation of Prof. Cristina Chaminade, full professor in Innovation Studies at Lund University and coordinator of the research area on globalization of innovation at CIRCLE (Center for Innovation Research and Competences in the Learning Economy).
She holds a doctoral degree in Economics from the Autonomous University of Madrid. She is one of the leading experts in globalization of innovation, particularly in global innovation networks and innovation in emerging economies.
The presentation was based on a recently published report, “The emergence of China and India as new innovation power houses – threat or opportunity?” (Cristina Chaminade, Davide Castellani and Monica Plechero; Circle, Lund University; 2014), which investigates current changes in the global location of innovation activities.
Based on field studies in India and China, the authors analyse the transformation in these two countries from low-cost producers to recipients of technology-intensive activities and discuss whether this change represents a threat or an opportunity for the competitiveness of European firms.
