The Jury of the IX Annual Research Award of the UAM-Accenture Chair in Economics and Management of Innovation 2017, decided to award the Prize to the paper presented by Prof. Isabel Álvarez and Prof. John Cantwell, entitled “How to the Configuration of Learning Channels of Creative Subsidiaries at their Technological Performance”.
The Jury also made a special mention to the finalist papers authored by Cristina Herranz and David Muelas, entitled “Interactions Among Skills, Policies and Recruitment in the Knowledge Economy: the Spanish case”, and by Nuria Calvo, Sara Fernández-López and David Rodeiro-Pazos, entitled “Open innovation between university and industry: Are women staying behind? A cross-country analysis. ”
The ceremony of the IX Research Award (“The next generation of science and innovation policy: adapting the policy mix to foster open innovation and digitalization”, 2017) of the UAM-Accenture Chair took place on June 25th, 2018.
The event was chaired by Juan Pedro Moreno, President of the Chair and President of Accenture Spain, and attended by José Manuel González, vicerector of Research at UAM and M. Isabel Heredero, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration; Isabel Álvarez, on behalf of the awardees; and Cristina Herranz and David Muelas, two of the finalists.
Firstly, Juan Pedro Moreno spoke about the importance of the changes that ICTs are generating and the positive effect of ICTs on the economy and employment.
Then, Isabel Álvarez presented the main points of the award-winning paper which main contribution is to the relative roles of the different learning channels available to subsidiaries that increase their likelihood of obtaining competence creating mandates.
José Manuel González provided some closing remarks. This was followed by a cocktail.
